In 2023, Combined Metals Company, LLC goes to market as three primary brands: Combined Service Centers, Elgiloy Specialty Metals, and Gibbs Interwire
Combined Metals through Gibbs Wire & Steel Company LLC purchased Interwire, the leading distributor of spring wire in North America, merging the assets to create the newly formed Gibbs Interwire. Also in 2021, we acquired the assets of a precision strip conversion mill in Bristol, CT.
In 2019, Combined Metals acquired a North American distributor of spring wire and tempered strip products: Gibbs Wire & Steel.
In 2003, we added our first specialty metals wire drawing facility in Sycamore, IL.
Our 25-acre, Hampshire, IL state of the art strip conversion mill began rolling operations in 1998. This mill allows us to roll light gauge strip up to a meter wide.
In 1988, Elgiloy Specialty Metals expanded our venture into cobalt, nickel, and other high-performance alloys, such as our signature cobalt alloy, Elgiloy, which debuted in 1947.
Founded in 1971 in Bellwood, IL as a stainless steel service center, Combined Metals has grown over the past fifty years into the largest independent processor and distributor of specialty strip and wire in North America.
